We have posted previously also about the release of ultrasn0w 1.2 which unlocked iphone 3G and iphone 3gs with baseband 05.15.02 and 05.15.04 by upgrading baseband t 06.15.00 but once iphone was unlocked there was seen a problem of battry Drain as it main problem so the solution was SAM (Subscriber Artificial Module) which was released in Cydia for official activation of iPhone running on iOS 4.2 and now iPhone Dev Team has updated the Redsn0w jailbreak tool to support this new app as Redsn0w b6.
Redsn0w 0.9.6 b6 brings some new option like to “Deactivate” for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users. This option will remove the normal patches from Redsn0w to lockdown and let SAM take over. Here is what Official iPhone Dev Team’s blog has to say:
Developer @sbingner (author of TetherMe) has made some excellent progress devising a new hactivation method that kills two birds with one stone for all you ultrasn0w unlockers. His tool, “Subscriber Artificial Module (SAM)” tricks your iPhone and iTunes into creating legitimate activation tickets even though you’re unlocked with ultrasn0w. This means you get the full benefit of push applications, and your battery life increases substantially. If you’d like to try it out, check out SAM.
To help make it easier to try out @sbingner’s tool, we’ve updated redsn0w to include a new “Deactivate” option for the 3G and 3GS. Use this option *after* you’ve installed SAM…it will remove the normal patches made to lockdownd and let SAM take over. (sbingner plans on making a button to do this within SAMPrefs too). so How to use SAM(Subscriber Artificial Module )?
If you need to unlock your iPhone so you can use it with any carrier worldwide and need to solve the battery drain problem then you follow the steps below:
Step 1: Jailbreak and unlock your iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS with Redsn0w 0.9.6 b6 which is similar to other versions so you can catch the instructions here.
Step 2: Install SAM on your jailbroken iPhone the instruction is posted here so you can oficially activate your iPhone officially with iTunes.
Step 3: Run the latest Redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 6 and select “Deactivate” option to let SAM take over.
