Apple has released its new version of OS as iOS 4.0.1 and in this update the baseband is not upgraded from 05.13.04, which means that now you can easily unlock iPhone 4 on the latest iOS 4.0.1 firmware which is really good news for those who want to try this new firmware. but the sad news is that still the jailbreaking tool is yet to be released as only some videos has been posted that it has already been jailbreaked but not released yet.

Since there is no jailbreak tool available for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS with new bootrom and no jailbreak tool is also compatible with iOS 4.0.1, and hence presently iOS 4.0.1 on iPhone 3G only can be jailbroken.

if you have jailbroken your device then you can unlock your iPhone on any baseband using ultrasn0w 0.93 from Cydia.

So how to Unlock iphone 3G, iphone 3GS using Ultrasn0w.

  • Run “Cydia” on your iPhone
  • Tap the “Manage” tab on the bottom
  • Now touch on “Sources”

    • UnlockiPhone3G

  • Touch on “Edit” >> “Add”
  • Enter http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com URL and touch on “Add Source”

    • UnlockiPhone3.12

  • Cydia will now automatically update your sources
  • Once installation gets completed, search for “ultrasn0w 0.93″ in Cydia and install this application. This app will automatically unlock your iPhone so that you can use it with any carrier.

    • ultrasn0w0.93

  • Reboot your iPhone
  • Now you have a fully unlocked iPhone 3G on iOS 4.0.1
  • You are done.
