Nikon To Launch First Rugged Digital Camera With GPS, Maps and much more a report..

Today is another big day in digital camera industry as Nikon came up with first rugged  point-and-shoot, the Coolpix AW100 its been a busy month in camera industry. First we had the new P7100 from Nikon, and next up will be some news from Sony
As expected of a rugged camera, it can be easily used underwater ( to 33 feet), it can survive drops from five feet and keep working down 14˚F (-10˚C), good deal for mountaineers. It also comes in a orange usual black and dull blue color and weighs in at just 6.3 ounces (179 grams).

But that’s just a basic fee to this game, and Nikon ups the price with some smart extra features which would definitely increase your fascination for this gadget. First is GPS, which not only geotags your images but tracks your location. There’s also a digital compass which can be displayed on the rear screen, and built-in maps.

One more thing you can do with this camera is that you can easily swap between functions just by simply shaking it.
As to the camera functions, the sensor is 16MP, the LCD three inches, the 5x zoom goes from 28-140mm (35mm equivalent) and the movies are 1080p (with a slo-mo option up to 240fps).

At last we can say that it,s has everything you can expect from your camera and tough enough to carry you.The AW100 will cost $380 when it goes on sale in September.
