Its not a long time that the merging power Android is taking on the other mobile giants like windows mobile and also Apple and its just a couple of months ago that we reported that Android has emerged victorious over Windows Mobile in the Global Market and now comScore reports that for May 2010, Android started beginning to eat from pie from the pie-chart of U.S. smartphone market share.

android-market-share

As we know RIM is the leading mobile smartphone platform in the U.S. with 41.7 percent share of U.S itself and. smartphone subscribers, followed by Apple with 24.4 percent share and Microsoft with 13.2 percent. Google saw significant growth during the period and was up 4.0 percentage points to capture 13.0 percent of smartphone subscribers, while Palm rounded out the top five with just 4.8 percent.

Though RIM is in all the top of the market share with almost 40%+ share of the U.S. smartphone subscribers, it still, along with iPhone, Nokia, Palm and Microsoft, loses to Google’s Android in terms of Point Change which is a statistic attribute to define the growth percentage for Android from Google and it was just 9% in Feb 2010 and now its almost 15% in May 2010 which makes a Point Change value of 4.0, beating all other smartphone OS platforms which ironically have a negative point change and became the only and first to take this state this early…

In the coming months, more of these stats will be of interest as this report does not account for the new iPhone 4 and the new army of upcoming Android phones by HTC, Samsung and Motorola so we can see the Android mania soon all over the world..
