Sony to release New Firmware 3.21 (update) which will Disable “Other OS” Feature

Sony one of the leaders in the electronics gadgets and its top and most popular product PS3 known as playstation 3 with its strong firmware has announced the  firmware update to the PS3 machine with major updates which will bring lots of and new exciting features . The PlayStation Blog released details on the Firmware version 3.21. and in this update Sony has disabled the ‘Other OS’ feature, which used to let the users to install an alternative operating system on their PlayStation consoles due to the Security reasons  the company pulled down this feature.

The latest update will be available from April 1st and users are requested to back up any data installed on their alternative Operating systems as after April 1st, users would no longer be able to access it. also they insisted that if users wish to keep current firmware and use their existing OS, they can simply choose not to upgrade their Play Station consoles but it is strongly advised by the company to make a firmware update for the security measures.

Here are the list of the features that wont be available once your firmware is updated..

  • Access to sign in to PlayStation Network to access the online features of PS3 games and chat
  • Playback of PS3 software title or Blu-ray Disc videos
  • Playback of copyright-protected videos that a stored on the media server
