Any online encryption system may not be secure. It has been said that there seems to be an error in the encryption system which will not make any eshopping, banking and other facilities over internet safe. This research is based on the report of the european and american mathematicians as well as cryptographers. They reaffirm that there is weakness in the encryption process when the random numbers are produced only for the users. Since this random number generation system is malfunctioning, it will clearly affect users’ privacy and security. Hence, it is in doubt if we still should depend on the e-transactions. It is only prayed that the large web site operators double this security system.
Researchers suggest,
“They “stumbled upon” almost 27,000 different keys that offer no security. “Their secret keys are accessible to anyone who takes the trouble to redo our work,”
“We were very careful: we did not intercept any traffic, we did not sniff any networks,” Mr. Hughes said. “We went to databases that contained public information and downloaded public keys.”
This research publication has been scheduled to be expressed at the the cryptography conference going to be held in august, at santa barbara.
Research further claim,
“The quagmire of vulnerabilities that we waded into makes it infeasible to properly inform everyone involved, though we made a best effort to inform the larger parties and contacted all e-mail addresses recommended or specified in still-valid affected certificates. The fact that most certificates do not contain adequate contact information limited our options. Our decision to make our findings public, despite our inability to directly notify everyone involved, was a judgment call.”
However the research shows that this encryption failure has occurred to very few number of cases. However, two out of every thousand keys is not safe which covers a huge impact on the fidelity towards web transactions. So, it is truly recommended that companies enable their protection system to more than double extent so that users do not lose their faith over e-transactions.
